Montréal Connecte // La Percée

#International Action

Zone Franche, the world music net­work, was select­ed by the French Min­istry of Cul­ture (DGMIC) to be part of the French del­e­ga­tion at the Mon­tréal Con­necte event on the theme of “the dis­cov­er­abil­i­ty of online cul­tur­al con­tent”, as part of the Fran­co-Que­bec project La Per­cée.

This will be an impor­tant moment for the net­work and for La Per­cée, a mul­ti-faceted project address­ing the issues of dis­cov­er­abil­i­ty of World Music in the dig­i­tal space. Ini­ti­at­ed by Pro­duc­tions Nuits d’Afrique (Mon­tre­al), Zone Franche joined the project in 2023 to ensure its deploy­ment in the French-speak­ing world (Africa, Que­bec, Europe).

This event will be part of a strong sequence for La Per­cée in Octo­ber, with the fol­low­ing events :
- MaMA Music & Con­ven­tion in Paris : pres­ence at the major debates, orga­ni­za­tion of a con­fer­ence and pre­sen­ta­tion of the exhi­bi­tion at the FGO-Bar­bara ;
- Fes­ti­val de la Fran­coph­o­nie (in par­al­lel with the Sum­mit) in Villers-Cot­terêts : con­fer­ence (in progress, sub­ject to con­fir­ma­tion), pres­ence of the exhi­bi­tion, etc…

Pierre-Alexan­dre Gau­thi­er, direc­tor of label Z Pro­duc­tion, pres­i­dent of dis­trib­u­tor Inouïe Dis­tri­b­u­tion, founder of book­ing agency Palmi­er Rouge, trea­sur­er of FELIN and mem­ber of Zone Franche (yes, mul­ti­ple man­dates!) will be in Mon­tre­al from Octo­ber 15 to 18, 2024 to rep­re­sent the net­work.
