How can programmers work together to reduce the carbon footprint of their tours ?
The transportation of people and goods, as organized and carried out today, accounts for over 30% of greenhouse gas emissions in France. Reducing this impact is therefore a major challenge for the performing arts and music industries. Although far lower than the carbon footprint of audience mobility, artist mobility nevertheless represents a major decarbonization challenge. Above all, it’s an issue on which professionals, and programmers in particular, can have a very significant and above all very direct influence : by coordinating to organize coherent (or “reasoned”) tours, the carbon impact linked to artist mobility will be reduced. How can programmers work together to reduce the carbon footprint of tours ? What changes in practice and/or professional posture does this imply ? What can the “CooProg Musiques Actuelles” solution offer as a tool, or even a lever, for this cooperation ?
