The Crossroads Festival was launched in 2016 to promote the current music sector in the Hauts-de-France region to professionals from other regions and countries, and to set up inter-regional and international artistic and professional exchanges.
Every November in Roubaix, the festival offers a showcase of some 30 artists, plus a program of professional meetings. In this context, Zone Franche was invited to take part in a round-table discussion.
Thursday, November 7 — 10:00–12:00
“Supporting emergence in a constrained context : how can we foster new alliances for creation and distribution?”
In a constantly evolving cultural context, supporting emerging artists has become a major challenge. Economic constraints and changing cultural consumption patterns are making it increasingly difficult for young talent to make their mark on the music scene.
How can we best support the emergence of new talent and encourage their socio-professional integration ?
How can we create new synergies and strengthen links between the various players in the music ecosystem ? The aim of this meeting is to explore new possible alliances between concert halls, festivals and production structures : how can we encourage the pooling of resources and skills ?
By sharing new initiatives and experiences, such as the Cooprog platform or the shared creation funding program supported by the French Ministry of Culture, the idea is also to identify new avenues of collaboration to develop joint projects.
Finally, we’ll be discussing more sustainable and inclusive economic models, to guarantee a sustainable future for emerging artists and the players who support them in developing their projects.
